What I Reckon Are the Top 10 Movies of 2009

I should start out by saying that I am not a film expert and therefore probably don’t really know what I’m talking about. Instead, what I am is a student who has made full use of an unlimited cinema card over the past 12 months.

So, with a ridiculous number of films under my belt, I present to you my list of what I reckon are the top 10 movies of 2009. Ordered unconventionally from best to least best, here are my picks:

1. Avatar – RT: 84%

Okay, so no real surprises here I guess. Completely mediocre plot aside, this movie was nothing short of spectacular. If you get the chance to catch it in 3D then do it, otherwise you’ll probably have to get the Blu-ray since the torrent is unlikely to do it justice.

The Top 5 Films of 2009 (So Far)

Okay, so I lied, it’s actually the top 4 films but ‘Top 5′ is such a better title. Also, since we’re on the subject of clarification, I guess this is only the top 4 films out of the 44 films I actually managed to watch this year. There could easily be a better film out there that I didn’t manage to catch.

So, ordered roughly from least good to most good, here they are:

Transformers 2 – A Negative Review

I’m going to start out by saying I really REALLY did not enjoy even one minute of this film. To say this film was terrible would be the understatement of the year. Michael Bay appears to have truly mastered the art of converting vast amounts of cash into vast amounts of steaming excrement.

While the first Transformers movie was a little shallow in the plot department, the second movie takes this a step further. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen actually shares a lot of the depth characteristics of a toddler’s inflatable paddling pool. Literally not more than 1% of the total screen time was dedicated to any kind of plot line. It was ALL action.
